Canines good for a carnival party, people that undress in a way and after wear other dress, and don't think that near there is a wardrobe, poor acting and the most bored chief of the vampires of all time.

This is "Vierges Et Vampires" in 1971, most famous as "Requiem For A Vampire". Another movie by Jean Rollin with vampires theme.

Got here we had to know that the French director has good ideas, very good ideas indeed, that crash into a poor realization.

"Vierges Et Vampires" in fact, in addition to a very commercial title, has several interesting things. Long silences that speak more than words, moments of great cinematography and the usual careful choice of location, that bring out the poetic side that the French director gives to his stories.

But as mentioned above he destroys everything with so many things that haven't a real sense. With some B movies' absurdity, Rollin puts in this film massive doses of eroticism rather than free. So we see a long parade of naked bodies, soft core and lesbian sex scenes, vampire tourtures that led to the incredible: a pearl trash of rare beauty. Just think, in the form of a bat a vampire attack a naked woman, so far nothing strange you may say, if not for the fact that instead of the neck, the animal/being prefer to go over the lower parts. To you think that are that days. Just like we did.


It 's really a waste, because even the plot of "Vierges Et Vampires" is interesting. An erotic horror story, which has as protagonists Marie and Michel two young girls who killed a man and then escape. They end up in a strange castle, where live a dynasty of vampires that handed down  generation to generation their powers. In the basement we find the "vierges" of thetitle, subjected to endless torture. The two protagonists could end there, but instead are chosen as inheritor of the power of these vampires.
Everything would spin smoothly if one of the girl didn't decided to lose her virginity, and if the head vampire hasn't many doubts about his existence (if it can be defined so).

The cast includes some actors faithful to Rollin, as the protagonist Marie-Pierre Castel whose movie career is composed of film by French director who played sometimes in the company of her twin sister. More or less the same career for the co-star Mireille Dargent that appears dressed as a clown, a character who will meet again in another film by Rollin.

This film was then put on DVD and can be found with three distributions. That of the Redemption, that of Encore Entertainment and finally the one Image Entertainment. For quality and extra contained the first two are without a doubt the most interesting.
