Bloodbath at the house of death

"That's strange, I thought the phones where dead"
"Why do you think that? "
"They usually you are in situations like this"

Being attracted to a "House of Death", we admit that it may seem strange. But we are facing with the british humor (we love it), with Vincent Price and with a talented artist named Kenny Everett. And strange as it may seem, in this " House of Death "we want to go inside.
Our expectations are repaid funny beginning consists of a pair of excellent gags. A thing that raises even more our expectations about this 1984’s movie .
Then, unfortunately, minute after minute, the "House of Death " becomes a "House of Nightmares", in the cinematographic meaning, because the story comes out of all logic and ends in a embarrassing ending .
The chances of doing well, as we said at the beginning, there were all , starting with Vincent Price, who parodies (well of course) himself, to Kenny Everett and conclude with other expert actors.
At this point we should make a good impression to you, saying that we know everything about Everett, however, we admit that we ignored his existence and that we have discovered great artist.
So this comic genius, who died prematurely, began his career in 1962 in an independent radio station. After a few years he starts to work for BBC, precisely in 1967, also taking advantage of the wave of pop music and especially that of the Beatles with whom he became friends and take part of the tour in the United States .
Between highs and lows moments, controversies and sacking for yoo heavy jokes, Everett became a radio celebrity, thanks to several hit show broadcast by the BBC and Capital Radio .
In 1978 he moved to a London TV with a show that mixes comedy and big pop stars.
In 1981 he proposed the same scheme or almost on the BBC and in 1984 he became the protagonist of this film.
As a famous television personality he became the host of some quiz shows, but the hiv diagnosed in 1989, became AIDS who killed him, for some complications in 1995. He was only fifty years old.
Returning to "Bloodbath At The House Of Death" with Everett and Price we find Ray Cameron, who also directed the movie and Barry Cryer two famous authors who worked often with Everett. The cast is completed by Pamela Stephenson a well known Australian comedian and Gareth Hunt another well-known actor.
A formidable group starring in this horror parody, which takes aim especially from "The Amityville Horror" and cites the great horror classics like "The Shining", " The Invisible Man " Hammer’s movird. The story is set in the Headstone Manor, who in 1975 was the home of the "businessman's weekend retreat and girls ' summer camp " and where, one night, strange monks brutally killed eighteen people.
Several years later someone back in this place but not to investigate about the case but on the radioactivity in the area. The group of researchers, scientists or investigators , whatever you want , it is rather heterogeneous and is composed by a German failed doctor ( Everett ), a gay couple and other bulging brains .
The “Headstone Manor" soon reveals itself for what it is, a sinister place that hides a truth far more complicated and involves the residents of the area who wearing a strange symbol , doesn’t like visitors and went to the pub for drinking beer and sing songs about the massacre of 1975. In fact, in this place there is of satanic cult, led by a priest seven hundred years old, played by Price. .
So our protagonists led by the doctor played by Everett investigating these mysteries, unfortunately, in a story that destroys itself along the way.
However, "Bloodbath At The House Of Death" also has some good things, which must be removed surgically to be appreciated. And it is undeniable that there are good comic moments as the flash back , like Monty Python, of ruined the career of the doctor, the sex scene with a ghost, that even after smoke a cigarette or the various pitfalls of the library. Not to mention the character of the priest, a little clownish of Vincent Price.
Not a great success, also harshly criticized by journalists of the time also because this movie is mentally tied to a heavy jok that Everett said at a meeting of young conservatives. In hindsight we must admit that the british humor here fail a little. .
