Sinderella and the Golden Bra
It might seem like one of those cases where the title gives everything.
More than the film itself. Well, it certainly is but it is also true
that "Sinderella and the Golden Bra" goes further, and it’s not
enough a "tasty" title, or that it’s one of the many parodies of
Cinderella. No, this very poor nudie cutie often turns into a musical,
opening it with the King who performs in front of some rather apathetic
topless girls. It’s is only the first and, among other things,
the worst of several singing moments. And there is also an interesting
introduction, which uses puppetry.
It should also be said that the director is also interesting. Loel
Minardi in his career has made only this film but Shawn Levy in his
book "King of Comedy: The Life and Art Of Jerry Lewis" credits him to
the initial project of "The day the clown cried", while the British
Film Institute reports him as director, although in the end it was
Jerry Lewis who sat behind the camera. "The day the clown cried" of
1972, is not a random film but it is probably the most famous and
talked about film that the world has never seen. Lewis radically
changes his character and style, but the film shot in Sweden is still
not released, apparently due to economic problems with the production
or, as Lewis said in an interview, because the work had badly failed in
its goal. A copy is kept in the Library of Congress and in 2025 it will
be screened for the first and perhaps last time.
However, reading the plot seems like a very interesting, sad and
touching film. It’s is better to leave the Lewis film alone and
the chatter about the director Minardi and go back to more suitable
topics for this blog: the boobs.
Minardi I said, based on a screenplay by Frank Squires (another
mysterious man), in 1964 direct this film in which Sidney Lassick, that
of "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" and "Carrie" is not only the best
known face, but also the Fairy Goodfather who helps our Derella. As
always, she is the slave of the ugly stepmother and the horrendous
stepsisters. So she can't go to the ball, but the Fairy Goodfather
gives her a magical bra and a nice dress. She dances with the prince
run away and lose the bra. In short, everything as always changes only
the object.
The prince falls into depression and the father orders that all the
women of the kingdom should try the bra. Eventually, the owner is
found, after several girls are tested half of which are in favour of
the camera.
"Sinderella and the golden bra" is a b movie that yes, it's really
boring and badly done and the actresses aside the protagonist (a
certain Suzanne Sybele) and topless dancer at the beginning of the film
are not so beautiful. The only version that circulates is simply
horrendous. Howevr this mixture with the musical and a fun title, make
it a recommended for lovers of bad films.
